UNLVino – a Las Vegas Tradition
Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada presents the 34th annual UNLVino in partnership with the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration. This Las Vegas tradition is an opportunity for wine enthusiasts and winemakers to meet and enjoy the latest releases, the best vintages, and the finest varietals in support of scholarship.
Created by Larry Ruvo, Senior Managing Director of Southern Wine and Spirits
of Nevada and Jerry Vallen, founding dean of the Hotel College in 1974, to date, UNLVino has raised millions, making this one of the largest endowments for scholarship and student activities at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and possibly the most unique educational fund raiser in the world.
At the 2007 UNLVino Grand Tasting held at the Paris Hotel, 7,000 connoisseurs and novices enjoyed 1,100 wines from more than 350 wineries and represented by 145 suppliers at America’s largest single day wine tasting. Beyond the Grand Tasting events include the Annual UNLVino Alumni & Friends brunch, a celebrity wine auction, Bubble-Licious, a Champagne and Sparkling wine tasting and Auss-Some and Then Some, a celebration of wines from the Southern Hemisphere.

The Paris Las Vegas Resort and Casino will again host the signature UNLVino® event in 2008, The Grand Tasting. All involved are very pleased that the Grand Tasting is returning to this beautiful Harrah’s property whose dedicated staff and management make this enormous undertaking possible.
UNLVino® has raised millions of dollars over the years for the advancement of higher education. Many a deserving student is working in the hospitality industry today thanks to the financial assistance and practical experience given to them through this unique event. |
